Research assistants in the RAM Lab are involved in a variety of activities. Lab assistants help with running experiments, prepping data files, statistical analyses, and designing materials. Students are encouraged to make at least a 2 semester commitment to working in the lab. Good candidates should have strong interests in pursuing graduate work in psychology and should have a high GPA .
Working in the lab will provide students with research experience that is helpful preparation for graduate school. Lab assistants will gain knowledge in cognitive psychology, learn the research process, gain experience working with computers, have opportunities to work with other students (graduate and undergraduate), and learn much more about what graduate school is like.
Past students who have worked in the RAM lab have:
- Been recognized as an Outstanding UNLV Graduate
- Earned the UNLV Lance & Elena Calvert Undergraduate Research Award
- Been recognized as a VISTA Group Outstanding Graduating Senior
- Served as Psi Chi officers (including president)
- Won prizes at the annual UNLV Psi Chi Research Conference
- Presented at research conferences such as APS, RMPA, and WPA
- Completed a senior Honors thesis
- Been involved in the McNair program
- Been accepted to graduate programs in psychology, medical school, and law school
